Happy New Year! Thank you for reading!

It is helpful to assess your work at yearend to see where you have succeeded and where you should spend more time in the New Year.

When I assessed the most popular posts on in 2019 and 2020, I discovered that about half of the visits to my blog were from people reading my posts in Spanish. This result motivated me to translate my second book, Life in Tension, into Spanish to serve my Hispanic readership better. I published Vida en Tensión this past May.  Again in 2021, half (5/10) of my most popular posts are written in Spanish. Four out of the five were bible studies. One was a sermon.

This year my most popular post is an authoritative prayer: A Prayer Against Dark Shadows. Three of the five most popular posts were book reviews. One of the five was a bible study.

Top Ten Countries of Visitors to in 2021
Visits Percent Name
8,526 69.5% United States
344 2.8% United Kingdom
250 2.0% China
225 1.8% Canada
217 1.8% Mexico
190 1.5% Ireland
189 1.5% Philippines
149 1.2% Colombia
134 1.1% Pakistan
118 1.0% Germany
1,816 14.8% Non-U.S.visitors
12,263 100.0% Total

About seventy percent of the visitors to were located in the United States. The next three countries of origin were the United Kingdom, China, and Canada. Surprising perhaps is the number of non-English speaking countries. The Hispanic visitors, however, must be mostly located in the United States because Spanish speaking countries do not account for half of the visits.

Aging posts are more popular. Three posts were written in 2013 and three in 2014. Two were written in 2016. One in 2018 and one in 2019. None were written in 2020 and 2021. This result suggests that search engine optimization (SEO) is important in post discovery, something that I have paid more attention to in recent years.

For fun, Google your name and see what comes up.  When I did this, I found a favorite sermon (Joy in Salvation) that I preached At Centreville Presbytertian Church for Lent in 2019.
