Observations

From time to time it is helpful as an author to assess who reads your posts and which posts are most popular. Shown above are the ten most popular posts for the year ending December 21. A couple of observations stand out on this list.
  1. My most popular post this year was a Bible study written in Spanish. In fact, four of the top ten posts were Bible studies written in Spanish. Meanwhile, no Bible studies written in English made the list.
  2. Half of the posts on the list were reviews of spirituality and theology books. None of my secular book reviews made the list.
  3. The only other category of writing on the list was a prayer. None of my reflections and none of my podcasts made the list.
  4. None of these posts were written in 2019. This either suggests that my writing was under par in 2019, which I do not believe, or that search engine optimization (SEO) plays a key role in discoverability—search engines rate older posts higher than new posts, perhaps because they are better linked.
How did you do in 2019? What will you remember most about this year? Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Top Ten Posting on T2Pneuma.net During the Last 12 Months

By Stephen W. Hiemstra

Annual Review

It is helpful for authors to review the types of writing that their readers are drawn to from time to time. Knowing your audience is useful for gauging what to write and the themes that most resonate. The attached table displays the posts most often read on T2Pneuma.net during the past twelve months.

The results this year are eye-opening. The most read post is a Spanish study of John 17. Three of top ten posts are Bible studies written in Spanish—none of the Bible studies were written in English. The only post written in this period is a eulogy for a friend and colleague—Dale Leuck. All the other top posts—book reviews–were written years ago, which suggests that they were subjects Googled by complete strangers, not regular readers who might be expected to return to more recent postings of interest. Many of these reviews were also popular in years past (see link below).

Six of the top ten posts are book reviews. The most read review featured a book on homosexuality in the Bible. Another review focused on theology. Two focused on family-systems psychology and three focused on Christian spirituality.

Conspicuously missing from this list are any of my Sunday prayers, Friday reflections, podcasts, or sermons. The primary change in my posting during the past year was the addition of my Monday Monologues podcast that clearly doubled my weekly traffic during the year, but did not yield a top ten posting. Because most of my sermons are delivered in Spanish, these were my only new postings in Spanish over the past year, but likewise did not garner a top ten posting.

I would love to hear from you. What were your favorite posts and why?

Me encantaría saber de ti. ¿Cuáles fueron tus publicaciones favoritas y por qué?

Thank you for your support.

T2PNEUMA RELEASES “SPIRITUAL TRILOGY” IN KINDLE AND EPUB

Spiritual Trilogy by Stephen W. HiemstraCONTACT

Stephen W. Hiemstra, author, T2Pneuma Publishers LLC (T2Pneuma.com), Centreville, VA 703-973-8898 (M), T2Pneuma@gmail.com

CENTREVILLE, VA, 2/24/2018

Spiritual Trilogy: A Compilation by Stephen W. Hiemstra is now available in Kindle (978-1-942199-21-2) on Amazon.com and in EPUB (978-1-942199-27-4) on Google Play or Kobo.com according to T2Pneuma Publishers LLC of Centreville, Virginia. Details available at: http://www.T2Pneuma.com.

DISCUSSION

This trilogy combines three books published previously: A Christian Guide to Spirituality, Life in Tension, and Called Along the Way. Together they chronicle a spiritual journey during the period from 2013 through 2017. The first two books focus on the question—who is God?—while the third book focuses on the question—who are we? The call to faith and ministry is personal but it is also corporal, being informed by the community of faith at one time and in one place.

The original books have been reproduced as published. Offering them together makes them available more economically and draws attention to their common purpose. Because spirituality is lived belief, it is important to reflect on what we say we believe and what we actually practice. This reflective process is inherently stressful but it is a normal part of our Christian journey as we prepare in this life for the next.

Hear the words; walk the steps; experience the joy!

Author Stephen W. Hiemstra (MDiv, PhD) is a slave of Christ, husband, father, volunteer pastor, writer, and speaker. He lives with Maryam, his wife of 30+ years, in Centreville, VA and they have three grown children.

What people are saying…

Stephen provides a helpful, accessible guide using the classic catechetical structure of the Apostles’ Creed, Lord’s Prayer, and the Ten Commandments.
David A. Currie, Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary

(In reference to A Christian Guide to Spirituality)
We live in a fallen world. It leads to life in tension, and sometimes a life full of stress. Stephen Hiemstra takes us on a needed tour of the kind of character it takes to face such a life.

–  Darrell L. Bock, Dallas Theological Seminary

(In reference to Life in Tension)

Have you ever wondered if the church in America is mortally wounded? Is God really dead as the infamous 1966 Time magazine cover reported? This memoir offers evidence to the contrary.

Aaron Gordon, Pastor
